- When staying in a hotel: (1) Ask the manager if the hotel has had any issues with bed bugs. (2) Remove the headboard and carefully inspect the back and support. (3) Strip the bed and check the mattress for any signs of bed bugs or dark spots of blood. (4) If you see signs of bed bugs, immediately contact the front desk and ask for a different room.
- When returning home: (1) Immediately wash all clothing and bedding, dirty and clean, in hot water, and then dry in a dryer on high heat (at least 140 degrees) for 20 minutes or more. (2) Vacuum all luggage - if possible, dry on high heat for 20 minutes or more.
